One Room Challenge: Week 1

The time has come for the Fall 2022 One Room Challenge! I am so excited to be a guest participant and very nervous at the task list I have planned out! Twice a year so many amazing designers join in on this challenge and complete the most epic interior makeovers!

If you have been following along on my Instagram stories you will know that I have been clearing out an area in my house that has so much potential, the sun room! This room has such amazing natural light and leads right into the new deck we just completed this summer. Below is the mood board I made for this space.

I love the natural colors but I am sticking to very warm tones. This space is a tricky one because it will have to serve two very different purposes. For a majority of the time it will be an office space for my husband and I. The second use will be for newborn photography sessions, so I have to figure out a quick an easy way to transition this set up for scheduled sessions when needed.

Here are before pictures of the space. I have already cleared everything out for the most part. These first two pictures are of the wood burning stove on the adjacent wall of the room and the two doorways that lead into it.

The pictures below are of the actual room. As you can see the huge pop out into the sunroom behind the wood burning stove is such a wasted space!

This sets me up for potentially demolishing my entire fireplace wall and opening up these two spaces! If this is not feasible I will be at least removing the doors and making these into arched openings. Other plans include:

-new slider

-replacing the big windows with energy efficient ones

-new flooring

-wall treatments

-desk build

-faux beams

-lighting, paint and more!
